BIS Engages With Plastics Recyclers

Patrick Welsh, member of the Green Economy team at the Department of Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS), visited the BPF’s London head office to give a summary of economic opportunities available for recycling companies.

The BPF invited Mr Walsh to engage with members of the BPF Recycling Group who benefited from a face to face discussion on how to maintain a competitive energy intensive sector whilst meeting green house gas targets.

BIS is the second Government body to get involved with the recyclers after Sarah Steeds, of the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, DEFRA visited last March. Steeds answered some questions from members regarding the Government’s Packaging policy and other areas of interest of the BPF Recycling Group.
