BIS Minister Responds to BPF on Overseas Trade

The BIS Minister Mark Prisk MP, responsible for overseas trade has responded to BPF Director-General Peter Davis’s letter outlining the BPF’s work on helping members win business overseas.

The Minister wrote:

“I am delighted to hear that the BPF is actively engaged in UKTI’s support for companies attending trade fairs in emerging markets and its Advanced Engineering team’s initiative to explore the opportunity to promote the UK’s capability in sustainable manufacturing.

I applaud your efforts to develop trade relations with your equivalents in India and China. The Government recognises these as among our key trading partners for the future. The recent trade delegation to India is a mark of the Government’s determination to develop trade relations at the national level too.”

Commenting on the BPF’s latest Business Conditions survey Mr Prisk wrote:

“Finally, I would like to acknowledge the importance of the plastics industry to UK manufacturing and can appreciate the valuable insight BPF must obtain on UK economic trends. I know that the BPF has regular dialogue with officials here at BIS and I would encourage you to continue those exchanges which provide valuable intelligence and evidence to support our policy goals.”
