Toni Brook, VRML
Toni is the Head of Quality, Risk and Compliance for VRML, an experienced technical manager with a 15yr demonstrated history of working in the environmental services industry specifically waste management. Qualified multi-modal DGSA all classes including 1&7 and highly skilled in Environmental Awareness, Management, Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment (QHSE), Hazardous/Municipal/Medical Waste Management, and Business Development. Strong engineering & chemical professional with a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) focused in Nanotechnology. Previously responsible for the standardisation of 7 new and 4 existing plants located throughout greater China and Asia to ensure consistent operation though-out that is in-line with the local / national regulations, groups policies and procedures.
Dave Gordon, Squire Patton Brooks
Dave is an Environmental Partner in Global Law Firm Squire Patton Boggs. He is dual qualified with a Ph.D in Environmental Toxicology and has advised on the legal aspects of EU REACH since its implementation in 2007. Dave acts for numerous clients in the chemical/manufacturing sectors and advised the Shadow Secretary of State on the development of UK REACH. His expertise now extends to cover Korea REACH, Turkey REACH and most recently UK REACH.
Chris Howick, Product Regulation Manager, Inovyn
Dr Chris Howick is the product regulation manager for INOVYN Chlorvinyls. He is a graduate of the City University, London, where he earned a BSc degree in Chemistry and also a graduate of Nottingham University, England, where he obtained a PhD degree in Inorganic Chemistry. Chris’ prior experience includes 5 years and work at European Vinyls Corporation (EVC)
He has had various roles in technical service, technical marketing and regulatory affairs which he continued when EVC became INEOS Vinyls.
Chris became the Product Stewardship Manager for INEOS Chlorvinyls in December 2006 and had responsibility for the group’s REACH activities and regulatory position of its PVC resins. He became chair of the European Council of Vinyl Manufacturers REACH committee in 2007. In 2008 he was also elected chair of the British Plastics Federation Product Safety Committee. With the formation OF INOVYN Chris was recently appointed as Product Regulation Manager.
Chris Hughes, NCEC
Chris is a Principal Regulatory Consultant at the National Chemical Emergency Centre (NCEC), part of Ricardo plc. He has over 10 years’ experience working in the chemicals industry on the implementation of REACH as both a regulatory professional and environmental scientist. He has developed a detailed knowledge of the regulation, supporting a diverse range of chemicals and industry associations, and is experienced in engaging in regulatory evaluation activities. He previously chaired and currently works as science advisor to the Ecology Group at Concawe, a technical expert group responsible for addressing environmental aspects of REACH for the European refining industry. He also participates in a number of scientific organisations and research projects.
Chris’ other experience includes GHS and global product notification regulations. In his previous role, he acted as a focal point for coordination of health and environmental hazard and risk information for safety data sheet (SDS) authoring at Shell and was responsible for addressing environmental regulatory requirements for a global product launch. Chris has a master’s degree (MSc) in Chemistry from the University of Manchester and is a member of the Royal Society of Chemistry (MRSC).
