BPF Council Membership Criteria

1. Candidates must be at Board-level or other equivalent leadership position in an active member firm.

2. The company represented has to have been a BPF member firm for three years and be a full corporate member. Consultants cannot represent member firms and collective bodies cannot be represented.

3. Candidates must be able to demonstrate to the BPF Executive a personal experience of the Federation’s activities.

4. In addition to commercial and / or technical experience they should be able and willing to contribute to the resolution of governance issues and to the BPF’s strategic development.

5. In the spirit of joining an important body candidates must be prepared to maintain an appropriate level of engagement and be prepared to attend at least two Council meetings per annum.

6. Companies cannot be represented by more than one person on the Council unless the second person is an Honorary Officer, e.g. Honorary Treasurer. The Council can agree further exceptions such as a member being affected by long-term illness.

7. Deputies are not allowed unless there are circumstances where absence might weaken the Council’s representation. The Council can invite guests with specific expertise to help it consider a particular issue.
