Discussions and Call-to-Action at the BPF Packaging Seminar in London

Discussions and Call-to-Action at the BPF Packaging Seminar in London

The BPF packaging seminar took place at Osbourne Clarke's offices in London on 28 November, and featured packaging experts from across retailers, brands, manufacturers, NGOs and more.

Barry Turner, the BPF's Plastics and Flexible Packaging Group Director, gave an update on the current situation in the plastics packaging environment, and speakers from across the value chain offered their perspectives and developments on this throughout the day.

Two panel debates took place, the first featuring Nick Brown from Coca Cola, Laura Fernandez from Marks & Spencer, and Helene Roberts from Robinson Packaging, discussing how they saw the future of plastic packaging. The second involved the ways in which we might work better together to reduce plastic packaging waste, featuring Libby Peake offering the Green Alliance’s insights, Barry Turner from the BPF, and Rob Tipper of Amaray.

Other topics covered by expert speakers on the day included dealing with difficult to recycle plastics, designing for flexible packaging, as well as the funding opportunities now available through the Smart Sustainable Plastics Packaging Fund. The event also featured an update from Wrap on the Plastics Pact.
