Health & Safety Seminar Looks to the Future
Monday, 3 April 2017
The Industrial Health and Safety Committee of the BPF recently held a seminar to explore the key issues facing the industry.
Topics included what the future of health and safety will look like, the impact of Brexit, detailed insight into manual handling, as well as presentations on occupational health and maintenance access.
The seminar, which took place on 28 March at Northampton County Cricket Club, brought together attendees from multi-disciplinary backgrounds across the industry including rotational moulders, moulders, equipment suppliers, packaging producers, polymers and additives producers as well as distributors.
Expert speakers from companies including Billion UK, Squire Patton Boggs and Pristine Conditions presented topics such as ‘Maintenance Access - How to successfully maintain a machine’, ‘Brexit and Health and Safety in the UK: Pathway to better regulation’ and a very well-received workshop on ‘Manual handling’.
The seminar concluded with the presentation of a very interesting case study ‘Embedding a culture of health and safety’ from Performance Consultants. All presentations are now available for download.
Sara Cammarano, Senior Industrial Health Executive responsible for the IHSC, said:
“We have been delighted with the response to the H&S seminar. The wide range of presentations given by our expert speakers engaged the audience and increased and enhanced their knowledge of various H&S subjects. Increasing the understanding of H&S can only be beneficial to the growth of the industry as a whole and to the reduction of accidents in companies working in the plastic sector”
