BPF Seminar - Plastics Packaging: Meeting the Sustainability Challenge

The British Plastics Federation is holding a seminar entitled ‘Plastics Packaging: Meeting the Sustainability Challenge’ on Wednesday, 18th November 2009 at BPF House, London.

With sustainability and environmental issues increasingly in the media and legislative spotlight there is a growing awareness of the role and impact of plastics packaging. In order to counter the negative perception of plastics packaging and to arm companies with the facts, the BPF has assembled a team of top-speakers at this seminar to brief companies on the latest in environmental thinking and the important role plastics packaging will play in meeting the sustainability challenge.

Anthony Roberts, BPF Senior Executive – Public Affairs says:

‘Of all the packaging materials plastics probably has the worst consumer perception, but this perception is completely at odds with the reality that, plastics packaging, due to its lightweight, resource efficiency and protective proprieties has excellent environmental credentials and its use serves to prevent the wastage of food and goods. This seminar focuses on the many positive ways in which plastics packaging can help to meet the sustainability challenge and will assist companies in finding ways to inform downstream users and consumers about the many benefits of plastics packaging.”

Seminar highlight include:

• Peter Skelton, WRAP - Courtauld II: Carbon Methodologies
• Steve Kelsey, PI3  - Sustainability through Design
• Chris Dow, Closed Loop Recycling- Increasing Plastics Recycling and use of Recyclate
• Graham Whitchurch - Bio-based and Degradable Plastics
• Jonathan Fowle, Innovati - Innovations in Packaging

The seminar is aimed at all those involved in the plastics packaging supply chain including, materials and additives suppliers, plastics processors, recyclers and end users.
