BPF showcases 6th British Pavilion at Europe’s leading plastics exhibition Plastpol 2010

The British Plastics Federation (BPF) presented its 6th British Pavilion at Plastpol 2010, Central Europe’s largest plastics event held in Kielce, Poland from 25th – 28th May. Awarded sponsorship to attend the event as part of the UK Trade and Investment scheme, the British companies featured on the British Pavilion, who formed part of the ‘British Group’, were amongst over 600 exhibitors from 30 countries.

Poland has reported a GDP growth of 1.1% in 2009, which taking in the current economic climate, is very impressive and since joining the EU in 2004, the country has had a strong demand for polymers in all sectors, particularly in packaging, appliances, consumer electronics and automotives. The Polish plastics industry is now the largest in the Central European region in terms of both production and consumption. Last year, plastics consumption in Poland reached over 2.3 million tonnes.

Members of the British Group were recipients of a grant of £1000 from UK Trade & Investment which went towards the cost of exhibiting and the companies also featured in the British Group Guide, a brochure put together by the BPF and distributed to visitors. The entries listed companies profiles, contact details and logo in Polish and English with the aim of heightening market exposure and generating strong business leads.

All UK exhibitors reported positively on the outcome of the show and in particular noted the quality of the visitors, the networking opportunities the event presented and the potential business leads gained.

Member of the British Group, Matt Wherlock from Applied Market Information (AMI) said:

“AMI's directories of plastics processors in central Europe, including Poland, were once again well received with several orders confirmed at the show.  Plastpol 2010 was a good opportunity for AMI to keep up-to-date with the plastics market in Poland as well as build relations with existing and potential customers.”

Next year’s Plastpol exhibition will take place at the same location, Targi Kielce fair ground, between 24th and 27th May 2011 and the BPF has reserved space at the show in advance for the British Group.
