BPF’s Productivity Committee has its inaugural meeting
Tuesday, 1 December 2020
The 18th November saw members get together for the first meeting of our Productivity Committee with a remit to improve the productivity of members in the plastic industry and demonstrate that plastics is a sustainable and socially responsible sector that attracts funding and investment.
Discussion centred around what is the best definition of productivity for the sector, when investment is required, and how to optimise resources while reducing waste.
Guest speaker was Mike Wilson, Chief Automation Officer at the Manufacturing Technology Centre who discussed the uptake of robot automation in the UK and the barriers and challenges to be addressed.
MTC provide a free ‘Line Walk’ service. Each line walk typically takes 3 - 5 hours depending on complexity with a senior MTC engineer who conducts a shop floor process review before providing initial feedback.
All support - up until and including the free line walk - is delivered without any future obligation. If you want to get involved in the Productivity Committee contact Graeme Craig, or if you want to know more about the free MTC consultancy visit their website.
