Broanmain Plastics - Make Work Pay
Thursday, 7 May 2015
Broanmain Plastics have been the first company to sign up to Labour’s Make Work Pay Contract, designed to provide a tax benefit to companies who become Living Wage Employers during their first year of Government, if Labour are successful at the polling stations on Thursday. Paying the Living Wage reduces the tax payer’s bill significantly, and is an ethical approach to remuneration.
Meeting with Ed Milliband and Rachel Reeves on Monday at Labour HQ, Jo & Wilf Davis were given the opportunity to share their recent successes which have led them to take the step to become a Living Wage Accredited Employer. This forms part of their commitment to their staff, which also sees them providing NVQ Level 2 training to all employees, and further more specific training to those employees who wish to progress further. They were also able to voice concerns they have concerning rising energy prices, limited access to lending and other challenges which face them as a business.
Broanmain, based in Dorking, Surrey, currently employing just over 20 people and operating injection moulding machines and 7 compression/transfer machines. Their capacity ranges from 25 tonne to 250 tonne. They also undertake pad printing, Kanban stocking and have an in-house Tool Room.
