Call for Participation: BPF Fire Safety Committee
Tuesday, 12 February 2019
The BPF Fire Safety Committee provides input and expertise to fire safety regulation, as well as promoting within BPF membership high standards of fire safety through effective materials selection and the exchange of best practice - and the committee needs your help!
The last couple of years have seen an increased focus on fire safety, particularly in the selection of construction products and the permissibility of certain flame retardants. Furthermore, with important work continuing this year including:
The review of BS 8414 parts 1 & 2 - Fire performance of external cladding systems.
The Draft for Public Comment of BS 9414 - Fire performance of external cladding systems
The Call for Evidence for a Technical Review of Approved Document B
Plus work by the Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government (MHCLG) looking at the UK's fire safety-related building regulatory framework, now is as an important time as ever to remain up to date with fire safety regulations and changes to the sector. The Committee itself, through meetings and expert input, helps to keep BPF members up to date on regulatory developments and draft BPF positions on Government consultations. This vital work is always in need of input and support from the wider BPF membership to ensure all views and sectors are represented.
