Can you afford missing out on SIMPL?

More than 100 BPF members have already signed up to SIMPL (Safety In Manufacturing Plastics) and the number is constantly growing thanks to the many benefits it brings. Can you afford to miss out?

SIMPL is an industry-led initiative to improve health and safety across the whole plastics industry. It brings together the entire plastics supply chain, trade associations, unions, training organisations and the Health and Safety Executive (HSE). Following its initial launch in October 2010, the new SIMPL strategy will run from October 2014 to 2017 in a bid to stimulate progress on accident and ill-health reduction within the plastic industry.

The BPF's annual Accident Survey has shown that in 2015 there was a reduction in the number of accidents for the fifth consecutive year.

Sara Cammarano, the BPF senior executive with responsibility for SIMPL says: “It is encouraging to see our members’ efforts rewarded by the steady downward trend in accidents. It is true that there are areas that need to be worked on to improve the results and that is exactly what we are doing through the continuous monitoring of the most common accidents in the industry, a yearly revised strategy, and the publication of documents such as the Plastic fumes checklist and the Competency toolkit. ”

If you require further information on SIMPL or you would like to sign up to it, contact Sara Cammarano at [email protected].
