Chinaplas 2015 Report

Between the 20th and 23rd May 2015 the British Plastics Federation organised the British Pavilion at Chinaplas 2015.  The show which is the worlds largest annual plastics exhibition was the 29th edition of the fair and once again broke records.  Chinaplas is an annual event which alternates between Guangzhou and Shanghai.  This years show saw more exhibitors than ever before and more visitors than the previous Guangzhou edition.  In fact for the first time Chinaplas attracted more exhibitors than the 'K' fair in Germany, with 3,282 exhibitors taking part in this years event.  The British Pavilion was made up of 13 companies most of which attended with the financial support offered via grants from UK Trade & Investment.

The show covered a net area of more than 240,000 sqm, an increase from the 230,000 sqm at the previous show in Shanghai. The 2015 edition attracted 128,264 visitors over the four days and featured national pavilions from 14 countries including Austria, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Switzerland, Taiwan, USA and Turkey.

To enhance our presence at the show and to promote the UK exhibitors the British Plastics Federation produced a 64 page Guide to British exhibitors in English and Chinese.  100 copies of the guide were produced and the guide not only featured information on all British companies taking part in the fair but also contact details and product information for all BPF Members.  To download the guide CLICK HERE

British Pavilion at Chinaplas 2015

British Pavilion

The British Pavilion was located in Hall 9.2 which was universally praised by the British exhibitors for it's prime location and despite the rather oppressive weather (very wet and very humid) the hall was excellently air conditioned and compared to many of the large machinery halls, refreshingly quite.

The companies who exhibited as part of the British Pavilion were…

•    The Aerogen Company •    EPI (Europe) Ltd •    Nextool (UK) Ltd
•    Ashe Converting Equipment •    Euro Exim   •    Plastics in Packaging
•    Boston Matthews •    J&A Young (Leicester) Ltd Jayplas •    Rapidflame Ltd
•    British Plastics Federation •    Meech •    Vision Engineering Ltd
    •    Zotefoams

Some of the British participants at the show

Throughout the exhibition, the BPF recorded enquiries from the visitors who came to the BPF stand and collected business leads for its member companies. These leads, as is the case with all trade shows the BPF takes part in, will be made available for members shortly.

What The Companies Thought

“This show has been excellent for us - it has highlighted some niche products that we can make and start to export to China and India. As a direct result we will be buying some new machinery.  This show has given us some direct sales and will now lead to us making some serious investment which I would estimate would create at least 6 new jobs” Jason Young, Director, Jayplas

"Throughout the show we were able to meet up with many existing customers, which I think is a result of our commitment to the Chinese market.  Conversations with potential customers were longer and more serious than we have previously seen which is a sign of the maturity in the market and a real insight into the calibre of the visitors." Simon Brookes, Sales Director, Boston Matthews

“It has been a very busy Chinaplas probably one of the best of the last 5-6 years in terms of quality of companies and credibility of visitors - who were mostly purchasing people and decision makers, who know exactly what they were looking for and in a position to buy.  The facilities and logistics around the show have been first class and the whole operation has been incredibly smooth. We have already expressed our interest in signing up for the next Chinaplas show in Shanghai.” Eddie Grant, The Aerogen Company

Chinaplas 2016, 25th-28thApril, Shanghai

During the four day exhibition the BPF managed to secure commitment from British companies for over 200sqm of space for the next edition of the fair.  Discussions then took place with Adsale, the organisers of the fair, to negotiate space for the next edition of the show taking place in Shanghai 25-28 April. Demand for the next show is expected to be very high and as the fair grounds in Pudong is not able to accomodate all companies wishing to exhibit we would strongly advise companies wishing to participate to contact Justyna Elliott ([email protected] / 0207 457 5004) and express interest as soon as posssible!
