Chinaplas 2026, the largest plastics trade fair in the world, took place on the 21th to 24th April at the National Exhibition and Convention Centre, Hongqiao, Shanghai (NECC).

It was the 38th edition of the annual event, which rotates between Shanghai and Shenzhen.

The exhibition covered 18 halls (380,000 sqm). Over the four days, the event organiser recorded a total of 350,189 visitors (86,440 overseas) and over 5,000 exhibitors.

CHINAPLAS is the largest plastics and rubber fair in the Asia Pacific region and one of the top International Plastics shows in the world.

Opportunities for overseas business continues to grow: China's GDP grew by 5.0% in 2025, while the strongest growth in G7 countries was around 2%. And despite concerns that current oil prices and supply chain issues would hurt Chinese companies, profits in March this year surged 15.8% compared with the same period a year earlier

The importance of the China market was reflected in the number of international exhibitors and visitors with national pavilions from Austria, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Switzerland, Taiwan, United Kingdom and United States.

Printed copies of the British Guide to Chinaplas 2026, produced by the BPF, were handed out during the exhibition. The booklet features listings of the UK exhibitors and details of the BPF Members, comprising over 600 UK plastics suppliers: raw materials, processors, machinery suppliers, recyclers and service providers.

UK's Department for Business and Trade (DBT) dinner 

At the end of the show’s first day the UK's Department for Business and Trade (DBT) based in China hosted a networking dinner for the UK exhibitors and visitors to Chinaplas with guests from the Chinese plastics industry. The UK’s Chinese Ambassador welcomed all to the event where each guest had the opportunity to introduce their company.
