Roger Baynham, Philip Tyler Polymers
Roger has 25 years experience in the industry, originally with Philip Tyler Ltd and since 1994 as Managing Director of Philip Tyler Polymers Ltd. Additionally he was appointed as a non –executive Director of Environmental Recycling Technologies PLC in 2006 and has more recently taken up an
executive position as Managing Director. Roger is also a chairman of the WRAP Plastic Forum.

Bernard Chase, Regain Polymers
Bernard’s career in plastics recycling has spanned nearly 40 years from Directorship of Chase Plastics Ltd, the family business specialising in Polythene film recycling, to his current role as Purchasing Director for Regain Polymers Limited one of the largest UK specialists in rigid plastics recycling.

Bernard is vice chair of the BPF Recycling Group and is also a member of the WRAP Plastics Forum.

Dr Jenny Clucas, Cogent Sector Skills Council
Jenny is the Strategy Director for Chemicals and Petrochemicals with Cogent Sector Skills Council and leads on skills strategy development for these industries, working closely with Cogent’s employer-led Advisory Councils.
She has spent most of her career working with the Process Industries, much of it in skills related activities.  Jenny joined Cogent from Chemicals Northwest, the industry-led chemical cluster support organisation for the North West chemical sector, where she was CEO.

Gareth Davies, G2 Innovation and Manchester Polymer Group
Gareth Davies has been in the polymers sector for 18 years. In the last 10 years he has focussed on helping companies with their innovation activities in a range of areas including funding, business intelligence, training and innovation facilitation.

Jane Gardner, Axion Recycling
Jane Gardner is a Senior Consultant for Axion Consulting, who are the UK agents for Recovinyl. Jane has worked for Axion for 5 years as part of the UK Recovinyl team and has been involved in setting up Recofloor the Vinyl Take Back Scheme.

Mike Jones, Distrupol
Mike has worked for Distrupol Ltd for over 30 years in a number of commercial, technical and production rolls. He has been responsible for health, safety and quality in Distrupol for the last 15 years  and while maintaining his responsibility for Distrupol, is now working for the Univar group where he has regional responsibly for health and safety.

Mike is a committed member of the BPF IHS committee and was appointed as chairperson in 2011.

Peter Kirkham, Billion UK
Peter’s began working in the plastis industry with GPG International in Dunstable in 1982. Peter moved from there to Billion in 1984 as a Service Engineer and has been there ever since, finally becoming Managing Director in 2001. In his time with Billion UK, he has built up a loyal and close knit team who are well known and highly motivated to help their customers.

Ian Mains, NSAPI
Ian's knowledge and experience at the 'sharp end' of the process industry provides him with a significant appreciation of the needs of employers for training & development. Ian began his career with Boots as Research Biochemist. Following this he transferred to BASF, holding a number of senior
executive roles.
Further in his career Ian joined North East Process Industry Cluster (NEPIC) as Business Development Manager before joining the Skills Academy.

Jeremy Pingstone, Technical Apprenticeship Service
Jeremy Pingstone recently taken a position working with the Technical Apprenticeship Service as Business Development Manager in the Polymer Sector. Jeremy has been working in the area of work based training programs for 15 years, more recently he has been involved in the development and roll out of a new foundation degree for the polymer industry.
In 1997 Jeremy started his own company offering technical services to the polymer industry, this involving training and work based assessment programs. In 2004 he became an External Verifier for Polymer based NVQ programs, this work continues today as a Standards Verifier and Higher Apprenticeship Advisor for a leading awarding organisation.

Dr Matthew Thornton, Materials KTN
Matthew began work as a KTP Associate at the University of Reading in collaboration with J G Shelton and Co Ltd, the main topic of his work was researching ways of removing mercury from crematoria flue gases. He is now a Materials Advisor at the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining and the Polymer Sector Leader for the Materials KTN. His specialist areas are polymeric materials, carbon-carbon composites, carbon nanomaterials, catalysis and nanomaterials.

Dr Alan Wood, Victrex
Alan Wood has a broad range of experience having worked for a polymer machinery supplier prior to starting an academic career in 1983. After nearly twenty years in academia Alan joined Victrex where he is currently Principal Scientist. He has a broad background in materials processing (particularly
injection moulding and extrusion) and polymer science.

Image Ian Young, RPC Group
Ian has worked in the plastics industry for 24 years on a variety of moulding and finishing machinery.  He is a safety practitioner and is currently Health & Safety Manager for RPC Blackburn. Ian is a member of the BPF safety committee and the SIMPL strategy committee.

Ian has a significant level of experience in accident reduction, safety auditing and training.
