Coveris win coveted 2022 Horners Bottlemakers Award

Coveris win coveted 2022 Horners Bottlemakers Award

MonoFlexBE Cheese Pouches has been declared the winning product of the Horners Bottlemakers Award. Developed by Coveris, it has been adopted by several major supermarkets.

The MonoFlexBE film is a polyethylene barrier monolaminate, which is far easier to recycle than conventional mixed nylon laminates used for grated cheese pouches. It matches shelf-life requirements and functional performance via innovative EVOH barrier technology and has also enabled a reduction in the amount The Love Ocean Whale Tail Bottleof plastic used per pack.

The Love Ocean ‘Whale Tail’ Bottle was highly commended by the judges, which used Spectra Packaging’s tooling expertise to create an eye-catching, refillable pack for children’s bath, hair and body wash products using 100% recycled HDPE.

Chairman of the Worshipful Company of Horners Awards Committee Stefaan Simons states:

We had many notable entries this year, showing there’s a huge amount of innovation going on when it comes to developing such products. Despite stiff competition, we are very pleased to announce Coveris as the winner of this year’s Bottlemakers Award. Its MonoFlexBE is already proving a success and we expect demand growing for easily recyclable flexible packaging solutions that do not compromise on performance. It is a very worthy winner.

Coveris will be formally presented with their award at the upcoming Horners Annual Dinner. The Bottlemakers Award is jointly run by the British Plastics Federation and the Worshipful Company of Horners. It is open to products that are either a plastic bottle, jar or hollow container made by any process.

Those interested in entering next year’s award can find details on the BPF website.
