Electrical Safety in the Plastics Workplace

The British Plastics Federation (BPF) will hold a seminar on Electrical Safety in the Plastics Workplace, on 26 September 2007 at its London offices.

The seminar aims to give delegates an overview of the Electricity at Work Regulations and the recent additions to the 16th Edition Wiring Regulation together with preparations for the 17th Edition. Furthermore, the seminar will provide a detailed assessment of the causes and dangers of static electricity, and provide detailed case studies as to how the problems associated with static can be ameliorated.

Experts from the plastics industry will give delegates the practical tools required to create and maintain an electrically safe working environment.

The following programme highlights are not to be missed:

  • Ernie Walker, Former Senior Electrical Inspector HSE, an overview of the Electricity at Work Regulations.
  • Geoffrey Stokes, Benchmark Safety Technology Limited, interpretations of earthing and bonding, including Guidance Note 8.
  • John Quick, Lowe Group and NECTA, Guidance for Duty Holders.
  • Trevor Pimm, Meech Static Eliminators: An overview of the causes and dangers of electrostatic discharge in plastics processing and static electricity case studies -simple steps to eliminate static.

This seminar is a must for all health and safety professionals working for plastics manufacturers together with maintenance, quality, operations and production managers - in fact a must for all duty holders.
