EPS DESIGN COMPETITION JUDGES ARE ANNOUNCED
6 February 2007
Today, the EPS (expanded polystyrene) Packaging Group announced the judges for the EPS Design Competition. The judges will assist the EPS Packaging Group to select the winning designs to be prototyped and exhibited at Tent London during the London Design Festival in September 2007.
The judges will be Tom Dixon, designer of the inspirational EPS chair that was given away in Trafalgar Square on 21 September 2006, Jimmy Macdonald, director of Tent London, Claire Norcross, Design Manager for Home Accessories at Habitat and Clare Dowdy, who writes on design issues for Wallpaper, the Financial Times and Design Week.
These judges will provide the contemporary design expertise, which will complement the manufacturing knowledge provided by the EPS Packaging Group.
“We are very excited to have such a distinguished group of judges onboard,” says Tony Pruchniewicz, Chairman of the EPS Packaging Group.
“We have had a lot of interest in the competition, both from students on design courses and from young qualified designers. We hope to be spoilt for choice and to be manufacturing some really great prototypes for our finalists.
The competition brief has deliberately been left wide open explains Pruchniewicz, “We are looking for great product ideas from any and all sectors, from children’s things to kitchen accessories via computer and household items and beyond — as long as it can be made from moulded expanded polystyrene, we are interested to see the concept.”
The competition closing date is 30 June 2007.
