Horners' Bottlemakers Award 2015 Now Open

The competition for The Worshipful Company of Horners prestigious Bottlemakers Award in conjunction with the British Plastics Federation (BPF) is now declared open and entries must be received by the deadline of 24th July 2015. 

Entries for this Award must be a plastic bottle, container or jar with closure made by any process including extrusion blow, injection blow or injection stretch blow moulding. Entries can also be injection moulding, vacuum forming and for the first time rotational moulded entries can now be submitted. 

 “The Bottlemakers Award is a prestigious accolade with a number of valuable commercial benefits attached. Last year we again saw a record number of entrants all demonstrating high levels of execution and exemplary creativity in design” said Raymond Layard, the Master of The Horners Company.

The winner of the Horners Bottlemakers Award 2014 was M+H Plastics’ Braille Tubes, which provides an innovative new method of printing Braille characters directly onto plastic packaging.

The winner will be presented with their Award at The Mansion House during the annual banquet of the Worshipful Company of Horners, one of the City of London's most progressive Livery Companies. This year's banquet will take place 1st October 2015.

The Horners’ Bottlemakers Award is an annual award for an imaginative or innovative contribution to the Plastics Industry. The Worshipful Company of Horners’ was founded to set and maintain standards in the ancient craft of the Horner.

The trade of the Leather Bottlemakers joined the Horners in 1476 when their craft was being eroded by glass bottles.

After it had 'adopted' plastics, the company introduced an award to encourage good design in plastics, these materials being the logical successor to the horn.

The Horners’ Bottlemakers Award is jointly organised by the Worshipful Company of Horners', a City Livery Company, and The British Plastics Federation (BPF).

The British Plastics Federation (BPF) is the UK trade association for the plastics industry – representing the whole supply chain including polymer producers, distributors, additives suppliers, machinery manufacturers, processors and recyclers.
