Horners Bottlemakers Award 2019 is Seeking New and Innovative Submissions
Monday, 4 March 2019
The Horners Bottlemakers Award, which exists to recognise the achievement in polymer-based packaging and bottles, has begun accepting entries.
Any plastic packaging innovations featuring a closure are welcomed candidates. The award, run jointly with the British Plastics Federation (BPF) celebrates technical, design and sustainability innovations that show commercial potential.
Last year’s winner, The BootBuddy, provided a quick and easy way to clean muddy trainers. The nozzle on the tip of the innovation makes it easy to get into the hardest to reach parts of muddy footwear.
Previous winners included an innovative digital printing technique which could be applied directly to a bottle’s surface, and a glass-like bottle developed through injection stretch blow moulding.
The Bottlemakers award commends the UK plastic bottle-making and plastic packaging industries’ efforts to continually innovate, staying abreast of the modern demands.
Stephen Hunt, BPF’s Membership Services Director, states:
“Plastic bottles and packaging are vital for preserving food, drinks and many other liquid or solid products. It’s exciting to see the developments in the industry being recognised by the Horners Bottlemakers Award. This award does a great job of highlighting the very best of UK innovations.”
Seeing as the award is open to all plastic packaging with a closure, this means various sectors within the industry are eligible to apply, particularly the thermoforming, injection moulding, rotational moulding, blow moulding and flexible plastic packaging fields.
The winners will be presented their award at the Worshipful Company of Horners’ Annual Banquet at Mansion House in London.
If you have a product that is worth considering, please visit www.hornersaward.co.uk or email [email protected] with your submissions by July 26, 2019.
