2016 Winner
ice bottle

Ice Bottle

Initially created for the cosmetics market, the glass-like bottle is produced using injection stretch blow moulding. The result is a stackable bottle with a sleek, high-end, almost architectural look.

The ICE bottle was praised by the judges for the way it demonstrates what is possible with plastics at the premium end of the market and for its unique, eye-catching design.

Made from a copolyester supplied by Eastman, the square shoulders of the bottle also allow for a simple engraving process that can be easily read. It has sparked interest from many parts of the polyethylene terephthalate (PET) industry.

2015 Winner

Logoplast

This year’s Horners Bottlemakers Award winner went to the 1.5 litre Ribena bottle made by Logoplaste UK. The PET bottle was designed to deliver optimum performance, while providing a clear sustainable advantage over existing products.

It's design is in keeping with existing smaller Ribena bottles, while boasting an impressive aesthetic appeal and delivering excellent impact resistance; both in the supply chain and in the home.

The bottle has a number of design features which allow it to run on the existing glass bottle filling lines, and during the filling process it was able to overcome the challenging internal pressures.

The new 1.5L Ribena bottle now includes ribs to support the vacuum and a honeycomb base for strength and support.
