IMSM to Run an Information Security Seminar
Friday, 7 May 2010
International management systems and standards experts, IMSM, will be hosting a business strategy seminar on information security at the prestigious De Vere Holborn Bars in central London on Tuesday 25th May.
The half day seminar will explain how businesses can manage the risks to their business information more effectively, using real life examples. The speakers include Andrew Bedford of IMSM, who will share his extensive international experience of ISO 27001, and Malcolm Maycock of WM Investigation Services, who will highlight some of the measures needed to anticipate and protect businesses from theft and fraud.
“This is the first in a series of seminars we are holding in the UK which focuses on information security. Businesses have complex security on their computer hardware and software, but very often overlook the human aspects, such as passwords like <password> and clear rules about use of memory sticks and laptops. There seems to be a headline a day where confidential data has been lost, misplaced, or stolen” explains IMSM managing director, Michael Bright.
“Information is seen as an asset of the business, and it is vital to find the right balance between giving authorized staff the tools and access needed to do the job, and ensuring that unauthorized access is prevented. This seminar will show delegates how to anticipate and manage the risks associated with information security, and provide increased confidence for their customers.”
