Industrial Energy Transformation Fund (IETF) Phase 2: Autumn 2021

The UK is aggressively looking to meet its Paris climate reduction targets and is accordingly rolling out significant support funding through the IETF.

There remains £220 million available as subsidy funding to be awarded in four competition windows through to autumn 2022. The first window for applications opened on 27th September 2021 and will close on 6th December 2021.

The Fund targets industrial processes, helping industry to cut energy bills by investing in more efficient technologies and reduce emissions by bringing down the costs and risks associated with investing in deep decarbonisation technologies.

Funding is allocated through a competitive process aimed at supporting the highest quality and most transformational bids. The fund is open to a broad range of industrial sectors and will support applicants based in England, Wales, and Northern Ireland, both within and outside of industrial clusters.

With deep experience and knowledge of energy efficiency measures appropriate for plastics processors, BPF member CCS Technology is seeking credible opportunities to partner within the UK plastics industry to meet the application criteria for feasibility studies and deployment projects. Positive outcomes from the feasibility studies may allow us to fastrack a potential  Zero CAPEX implementation which would not be possible on marginal projects without deployment grant funding.

The feasibility study requires no capital outlay from the lead organisation and the non-grant portion will be contributed in combination from “in kind” resource usage on the project from existing company management/engineering salaries as well as CCS and partner resources that would normally be committed to project feasibility at risk.

Most of the heavy lifting will be handled by CCS engineering staff in terms of developing and submitting the application, and the subsequent follow through to complete the feasibility study or deployment project.
