Logoplaste UK Wins The Horners Bottlemakers Award 2015

The winner of this year’s Horners Bottlemakers Award was judged to be the 1.5 litre Ribena bottle made by Logoplaste UK.

The PET bottle was designed to deliver optimum performance, while providing a clear sustainable advantage over existing products.

The bottle has a style in keeping with the existing smaller Ribena bottles, while boasting an impressive aesthetic appeal and delivering excellent impact resistance; both in the supply chain and in the home.

The product has numerous design features which allow it to run on the existing glass bottle filling lines, as well as overcoming challenging internal pressures during the filling process.

The new 1.5L Ribena bottle now includes ribs to support the vacuum and a honeycomb base for strength and support.

A Logoplaste UK spokesman said, “We are delighted to have been chosen as the winner of the 2015 Horner’s Bottlemakers Award and recognised for our contribution to innovation.”

The judges were also delighted to nominate two entries for the highly commended certificate; The SprayPET Aerosol Container and the Millers Oils Flowcontrol Bottle.

The SprayPET Aerosol Container, developed by Plastipak Packaging (formerly APPE), is a plastic aerosol container which has been designed to replace tinplate or aluminium cans. As a one-piece container, it can be used in gel, cream or mist applications in home, personal care products and food.

The Millers Oils Flowcontrol Bottle, manufactured by RPC Promens, features a unique dispensing closure that allows oil to be fully controllable and to flow freely and easily. The container creates a distinctive presence on-shelf to highlight the innovative closure while still remaining in keeping with other plastic oil containers.

The Horners Bottlemakers Award was established in 2002 and is jointly run by the Worshipful Company of Horners (an ancient Livery Company of the City of London) and the British Plastics Federation (BPF).

Notes for editors
The Horners’ Bottlemakers Award is an annual award for an imaginative or innovative contribution to the Plastics Industry. The Worshipful Company of Horners’ was founded to set and maintain standards in the ancient craft of the Horner.

The trade of the Leather Bottlemakers joined the Horners in 1476 when their craft was being eroded by glass bottles.

After it had 'adopted' plastics, the company introduced an award to encourage good design in plastics, these materials being the logical successor to the horn.

The Horners’ Bottlemakers Award is jointly organised by the Worshipful Company of Horners', a City Livery Company, and The British Plastics Federation (BPF).

The British Plastics Federation (BPF) is the UK trade association for the Plastics Industry – representing the whole supply chain including polymer producers, distributors, additives suppliers, machinery manufacturers, processors and recyclers.
