Original Production background of Bree from Ralph Bakshi's Lord of the Rings (1978), created by Michael Ploog and Johnny Vita. This stunning piece was created on a cel, so the entire image is translucent. This makes the lighting effects especially spectacular. I have never seen anything else quite like it.

The background is a gigantic 25"x19", and y. Ou can see how large it is by comparing it to the 12-field cel of Frodo and Samwise overlaid on it (also included). Bakshi is famous for using novel techniques to create animation, especially his extensive use of rotoscoping. This incredible piece did not make the final cut in the movie, and was shelved and sitting in storage for decades.

Naturally, it is in great condition without damage or fading. An image of this piece was originally to appear on p. 147 of UNFILTERED: The Complete Ralph Bakshi.
