Melba Swintex to open new 52,742 sq ft distribution facility

Melba Swintex to announce the official opening of its new facility at Ewood Bridge, Rossendale, on August 1st 2026, marking a significant investment in the company’s long-term growth, operational capacity and commitment to the region.

Founded in 1982 and built on decades of manufacturing heritage in Lancashire, Melba Swintex remains a proud third-generation family business. From early innovation in traffic cone manufacture through to the merger of Melba and Swintex in 2007, the company has continued to grow while staying true to its roots, combining technical expertise, craftsmanship and a long-term commitment to customers and community.

The new facility represents an important milestone for the business, which is one of the UK’s leading manufacturers of Temporary Traffic Management solutions and exports worldwide. Built to support increased demand and improve operational efficiency, the site will strengthen Melba Swintex’s ability to serve customers across the UK and internationally while supporting future expansion.

The development of the new distribution hub was first outlined as part of the company’s growth plans in 2024, with the project designed to streamline operations, reduce lead times, and better support customers' requirements. The scheme also reflects Melba Swintex’s ongoing commitment to sustainability and responsible growth, including consideration of the site’s wider environmental impact. Melba Swintex continues to offset carbon emissions by investing in UK and international carbon offset projects and renewables schemes.

Gregg Dawson, Managing Director at Melba Swintex said ”This new facility represents a significant milestone in our history. An investment which gives us the capacity, flexibility and infrastructure to better serve our customers, support further growth and continue building on our commitment to product innovation, quality and sustainability. We’re proud to bring this investment to Rossendale and excited about the opportunities it creates for our team, our customers and the wider local economy”.

The official opening will bring together customers, partners, local stakeholders and representatives from across the business community to celebrate the next chapter for Melba Swintex. The company said the facility will provide the space and infrastructure needed to support the next phase of its development while reinforcing its proud Lancashire heritage as a third-generation family business.

Melba Swintex has built its reputation on innovation, quality and environmentally conscious manufacturing, with more than 90% of its products manufactured from recycled materials. The new facility is expected to play a key role in helping the business continue that momentum as it expands its production and distribution capabilities.
