METRC: Northern Universities

METRC is a northern university grouping, which helps apply university research to industry. The METRC Centre pools expertise from universities across the North of England to help you to accelerate the development of new products and processes in the following market sectors:

Chemicals; Energy; Home & Personal Care; Medicines & Healthcare; Transport & Manufacturing

The Northern Universities are as follows:

Bradford, Durham, Lancaster, Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle, Sheffield, Sheffield Hallam and York

METRC is able help companies access funding for collaborative R&D projects, whilst also helping UK SME's with single client projects.

One of the main services that METRC can offer to companies, both large and small, is a free, independent brokerage service.  METRC can quickly and efficiently help companies to find suitable academic partners from our universities to solve technical challenges or to meet unmet technology needs.

The group of Universities offers extremely strong expertise in areas such as nanotechnology and science & engineering that can be applied to help companies in a wide variety of markets, including within the plastics and plastics manufacturing sectors.

The expertise isn't limited to these market sectors, as indicated by a recently held event in London, to promote the activities and achievements of the group of 9.

The recent London event and presentations are available for download here, which includes interviews, videos and of course presentations for you to download, to help understand how these Universities can best help your business.

The event - held in London on 20th November 2013 - was attended by over 70 delegates and included case-study style presentations from Durham University and Leeds University, highlighting their work with Aesica Pharmaceuticals, Newcastle University with AkzoNobel and Manchester University with PZ Cussons.
