Minister Endorses Plastics Industry Recycling Action Plan (PIRAP)

Following the launch of the Plastics Industry Recycling Action Plan (PIRAP) by Plastics 2020 (namely BPF, PAFA and Plastics Europe) and WRAP at the PRE exhibition in Telford yesterday, the Resource Management Minister, Rory Stewart, has given his personal support to the plan.

Speaking on the topic Rory said, “I am delighted to endorse the Plastics Industry Recycling Action Plan (PIRAP).  We are recycling more than ever before and have doubled the recycling of plastic packaging over the last 12 years.  This reflects a lot of hard work by industry across the supply chain but there is still more to be done. That’s why it is so encouraging to see industry working together to develop this plan which will help us to protect the environment and grow the economy.”

PIRAP provides a co-operative strategy for the plastic packaging supply chain to take action and contribute towards achieving the UK government’s target for obligated users by developing a resilient and sustainable plastics recycling sector in the UK.
