New Chairman for the BPF Vinyls Group
Friday, 29 January 2010
Roger Mottram, Head of Environmental & Regulatory Affairs of INEOS ChlorVinyls has been elected as Chairman of the BPF Vinyls Group taking over from Alex Hey of Arkema who stepped down after ten years at the helm.
Created in 1993, the Vinyls Group encompassing PVC polymer producers, additives suppliers and the major converters, has done much to defend PVC against attack. As a founder member, Roger has played a strong role in its development and is now the Group’s fifth Chairman.
Roger applauded Alex’s sterling contribution over the past decade commenting that, “Alex presided over the implementation of Vinyl 2010 in the UK and the achievement of the high levels of PVC recycling now taking place. He led the way in establishing the Group’s Vinyls Seminar as an annual event and has carefully fostered the growth of the Group through good times and bad. Alex raised the profile of the BPF Group internationally securing a high level of respect for its activities particularly within the EU, USA and Australia. ”
There is still ill informed discrimination against PVC in both the public and private sector and Roger is keen for the BPF to be in the lead in responding.
The potential future challenges for the Group and its future direction is something Roger is very optimistic about, adding, “PVC has a great future in the UK. Its contribution to the low carbon economy of the future will be second to none, a key message which will be at the heart of the BPF’s Vinyls Group during my chairmanship.”
