New German Plastics Federation

The British Plastics Federation (BPF) welcomes the recent foundation of the ‘German Plastics Industry Federation’ on 18th June 2009. The German Plastics Industry Association (Wirtschaftsvereinigung Kunststoff – WVK) will for the first time bring together the common interests of plastics manufactures, convertors and machinery manufactures in Germany under the umbrella of a single trade association.

BPF Director General, Peter Davis says:

‘We are very glad WVK has been formed. The BPF was founded in 1933 as a federation for all companies and affiliated associations in the industry, from raw materials to recyclers. This umbrella model of mutual co-operation has stood the test of time extremely well and ensured One Voice for plastics in the UK.’

The objective of WVK is to increase public awareness of the German plastics industry and to promote the interests of the industry as a whole.

WVK founding Chairman Reinhard Proske says:

‘It is WVK’s goal to further highlight the importance of this key industry for Germany. In addressing politicians and the public, we want to act as the mouthpiece for the entire plastics value chain.’

WVK’s activities will focus on energy and resource efficiency, environment and consumer protection, as well as research, innovation and education.
