New Scheme to Compensate Electricity Intensive Industries: You Could Save Money
Tuesday, 17 May 2016
A scheme is now open to compensate electricity intensive industries for electricity charges related to the Renewables Obligation (RO) and Feed-In Tariff (FIT). These charges reflect the government’s commitment to meet carbon emission targets, but add to electricity bills and can put your international competitiveness at risk.
The RO and FIT compensation equates to around 1p/kWh per annum for eligible electricity use. It could amount to a saving of around 10% on your electricity bill.
The relief is available now, but cannot be backdated. We therefore recommend that you act quickly to assess your eligibility to make a claim.
To be eligible you must manufacture a product in the UK within an eligible Sector NACE code, and pass a test based on your electricity use and profitability.
How to obtain the compensation!
The following link will take you to the government WEB site which will assist you in making the assessment and any potential claim resulting from the assessment.
