New Team Take the Helm at the BPF

Philip Law, BPF’s new Director-General took the helm of the BPF on the retirement of Peter Davis on 1st July. Law a BPF veteran of 35 years has introduced a new team. Darren Muir replaces Finance and Administration Director, Alan Davey, who also has retired. Stephen Hunt became Membership Services Director and Sarah Plant, Public and Industrial Affairs Manager.

Philip Law said “the BPF’s new management team line up has over 85 years of business experience behind them, with considerable depth of knowledge on the key topics of major relevance to the UK plastics industry”.

Peter Davis and Alan Davey were given a rousing farewell at a special reception held in the BPF’s offices with some 90 attendees including the heads of EU-level plastics associations and politicians such as Lord Baker of Dorking CH to whom Peter Davis had earlier acted as Special Advisor at the Department of the Environment in the late 80’s.

BPF President Mike Boswell paid tribute to the massive contributions both Peter Davis and Alan Davey had registered for the BPF. “Peter has carried the profile of the organisation to great political heights, most recently witnessed in the personal letter sent to him by David Cameron” he said and added that “Alan Davey has been a most effective steward of the BPF’s finances. Alan largely set up BPF Energy which paved the way for an expansion of BPF membership”.

Philip Law said that he had “lost two quite remarkable colleagues, but that the new team would build on their achievements and take the BPF into exciting new territory”.
