Plastic hard coatings are used the world over to extend the life of essential plastic products or provide specific performance related properties such as scratch and chemical resistance.
Peerless Plastics & Coatings have a history of developing a range of UV cured hard coatings together with product applications to meet customers needs in many industries and applications across the world.
Hard coatings have generally been a specialist product used sparingly where possible to avoid the on cost, in spite of the fact that they significantly extend the life and performance of plastics.
In 2016 at the end of an extensive development process, Peerless launched MicroGuardTM an Anti-Microbial Hard coating with excellent chemical and abrasion resistance.
Since it’s launch MicroGuardTM has been applied to sheet materials, moulding and extrusions for a myriad of applications including surface coverings, door handles, push plates and handheld equipment.
MicroGuardTM has been independently tested against bacteria such as MRSA, E-Coli and Salmonella proving to be more than 99% effective. With many customers carrying out further laboratory and field-based testing all of which has proven successful.
As a result of the current Covid-19 epidemic, surface hygiene and protection has become of greater concern to populations around the world.
Peerless are keen therefore to ensure that their Anti-Microbial products are made available on a mass scale.
