Pentagon Plastics Taking their Tool making capabilities to the next level

Pentagon Plastics has always prided itself on being able to offer its customers a full on-site Toolroom, which complements its comprehensive moulding facility based in the heart of Sussex.

Rarely do you find a UK plastic injection moulder who is also capable of full mould tool manufacture from simple development right through to bespoke complex multi-cavity tooling solutions from one site of manufacture in the UK.

In late 2015, Pentagon had the pleasure of welcoming John Horspool to their team taking up the role of Tooling Manager.  John has spent many years in the tooling industry holding key roles and brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience which have become of immeasurable benefit to the business.

Drawing on John’s vast tooling expertise we have been able to take our tool making capabilities to new heights and provide customers and prospects with an even better level of technical knowledge delivering better solutions for the manufacture of more complex products.

As the scope of mould tooling capabilities opens up Pentagon are also keen to ensure that their customers understand the level of tool maintenance that they undertake between production runs often at little or indeed no cost to their customers!!

Following initial tooling investment (which can be anywhere between £2,000 & £6,000 for basic tooling through to £35,000 or more for highly complex tooling) Pentagon’s customers can enjoy ongoing routine preventative tool maintenance between all production runs. This allows the toolmakers to identify and rectify any potential wear issues on the tool that may go on to impact on the quality of the end moulding that it produces.  As with everything over time and with repeated use, wear and tear deterioration is inevitable but being mindful of the investment made by their customers Pentagon is committed to ensuring prolonged life of the injection mould tools and ensuring that tooling is always ready for the next production run even at short notice.

Not only is there the understanding that mould tooling needs to stand the test of time, Pentagon also realise that product design can change and evolve and to accommodate this customer requirement they are also able to provide customers with tooling modifications and refurbishments. This means that there isn’t always a need to invest into new tooling should a product change, as we can often merely modify existing tooling to meet the product changes. This delivers a far lower cost solution to the customer and Pentagon can go on to deliver the repeat production that they have enjoyed to the point of change.

Keeping all of the tooling elements on site in Horsham along with the vast plastic injection moulding capabilities keeps lead times to a minimum and allows Pentagons customers to really enjoy that one-stop shop for all of their injection moulding requirements.
