The objective of the seminar is to explore the various ways in which the industry and key stakeholders can take proactive steps to expand and increase plastics recycling in the UK.

Mark Burstall, BPF Recycling Council

Mark Burstall (Chairman, BPF Recycling Council)

Qualified engineer with over 30 years experience in the recycling industry. Chairman of the BPF Recycling Council and of the CEN working group on standards for recycled plastics.


Jan-Erik Johansson, PlasticsEurope

Jan-Erik Johansson (Reginal Director, Plastics Europe - North)

"Jan-Erik Johansson, a Swede, has worked for 30 years in the plastics industry in a variety of positions ranging from engineering and control to sales, marketing and business management. He has a chemical engineer education later complemented with a business administration degree.

During his career Jan-Erik has worked in a number of European countries and has also experience from doing business in Middle East, Asia and the US. In PlasticsEurope Jan-Erik is responsible for the North region as Regional Director and he is also acting Advocacy Director.


Cllr Paul Bettison

 Cllr Paul Bettison (Leader of Bracknell Forest Unitary Authority, Chairman of LACORS and IDeA National Lead Peer)

Having spent ten successful years with US based Rockwell International, before setting up his own successful business, Paul turned to local politics in 1991. In 1996 Paul was elected Leader of the Conservative Group (then in opposition) at Bracknell Forest, winning power during the elections in May 1997.  Under Paul’s leadership, the Conservative Group at Bracknell Forest managed a “seamless” transition to unitary status in 1998.

Paul is active within the LGA, and is firmly committed to local government representation at the highest level. From 2006 – 2009 he chaired the LGA Environment Board, where he gained national recognition as the ‘Bin Baron’. He currently chairs LACORS (Local Authority Co-ordinators of Regulatory Services) and sits on the LGA Executive. Paul chairs the Berkshire Leaders’ Group, and represents Berkshire on SECL (South East County Leaders). He chairs the Environment themed partnership of IESE (Improvement and Efficiency South East) and is also Chairman of the Executive Board of IESE. He is also the chairman of the new regional Rural Board.

Directions:
The nearest Underground Station (Northern Line - Bank Branch) is Old Street.

Leave Old Street Station Via exit 3 and keeping the roundabout behind you head down Old Street towards Rivington Street.

On your left you will see a small row of shops including a pub called Nelson's Retreat and on your right you will pass a pub called The Aquarium.

Keep heading straight following the road (Old Street) until you come to several sets of traffic lights at this point you will need to cross over towards The Foundry and keeping this pub on your left follow the road around the corner until you enter Rivington Street.

Follow Rivington Street for approx. 50 meters and turn left, down the ramp, into Bath Place (the first building after the car park). The BPF is on the far side of the Courtyard situated directly opposite the ramp.

King's Cross, Moorgate, Euston and Liverpool Street stations are within easy reach of Old Street.
