Plastindia 2015 Post Show Report

Download Sales Leads Plastindia 2015From 5th to 10th February 2015, the BPF organised the British Pavilion at Plastindia, the largest plastics exhibition in India. This year was the 9th edition of the show and for the first time the show took place in Gandhinagar, Gujarat having previously been held at the Pragati Maidan in New Delhi.

Plastindia: The Numbers

  • 100,000 sqm gross area (the same as the 2012 edition in Delhi  and compared to 77,000 in 2009 and 65,000 in 2006)
  • 50,000 sqm net area
  • 1,590 exhibitors (from 35 countries)
  • 15 Halls (3 for foreign exhibitors, 6 for Indian manufacturers, 4 for raw materials producers, 1 for printing machines and 1 for mouldmakers)
  • 200,000 visitors (compared to 150,000 at Plastindia 2012)

The trade fair featured a large European Contingent organised by Messe Dusseldorf which included national pavilions from Germany, France, Austria, Switzerland, Italy and of course Britain.  In addition there was national participation from a number of other countries including Japan, USA, Canada, China, Korea and Taiwan.

The show proved to be a major success for all UK companies with busy days throughout the show, most notably the Friday 6th and Saturday 7th of February.

Plastindia 2015 and the British Pavilion

British Pavilion

The British Pavilion was located in Hall 11 and it was made up of 12 companies. Most of the British companies were supported by UK Trade & Investment grants of up to £3,000. The companies who exhibited as part of the British Pavilion are listed below:

British Group at Plastindia 2015

British Plastics Federation with support of UK Trade & Investment produced a 44 page Guide to UK exhibitors which listed details all UK exhibitors plus all BPF Members (nearly 500 companies). One thousand copies of the guide were produced and distributed during the show to promote the UK excellence to the Indian buyers and potential business partners.

Throughout the exhibition, the BPF recorded the enquiries from the visitors who came to BPF booth and collected over 250 business leads for its Member companies.

On the evening of the 5th February 2015 the BPF in collaboration with UK Trade & Investment Ahmedabad organised an evening reception and dinner for UK Exhibitors and a number of selected Indian companies interested in the UK Plastics Industry.  The evening was a great success, with nearly thirty Indian representatives arriving to meet with the British companies.

In addition representatives of the BPF accompanied by British Exhibitors attended the Gala Evening Dinner organised by the Plastindia Foundation as well as the 70th anniversary celebrations of the All India Plastics Manufacturers Association (AIPMA) which was attended by members of the Gujarati and Indian Government. AIPMA are the organisers of the Plastivision fair in Mumbai (the second largest trade show in India) which will next take place 19-23 January 2017.

Following strong feedback from visitors and exhibitors, the next edition of Plastindia has been scheduled for 2018 and will once again take place in Gandhinagar, Gujarat.
