Polymer Ambassador Scheme: New Round of Ambassadors Trained Up

Polymer Ambassador Scheme: New Round of Ambassadors Trained Up

The Polymer Ambassador Scheme saw the latest additions to the programme trained and equipped with the Olly's Cool Box of Plastics kit on Monday 10th July 2017. The training was delivered in conjunction with Cogent Skills' SIP Ambassador programme.

The Polymer Ambassador Scheme

The Polymer Ambassador Scheme is an initiative to give people from the polymer industry the opportunity to teach children and students about the exciting world of polymers, to engage them about the possibilities of science, engineering and manufacturing.
The training involved includes presentation skills on how best to engage school kids, as well as further training on the Olly's Cool Box of Plastics Kits that forms a key part of the Polymer Ambassador Scheme. Once trained up, Ambassadors will then be ready to head out and deliver polymer training to schools and students.

Training Day

The overall feedback from the day was positive, with a further 14 Ambassadors trained on skills that will assist them in engaging school children about polymers and their proporties. With an informative session delivered by Rachel Brickell of Cogent Skills, the new Ambassadors learned how to engage schools, plan and deliver training sessions, as well as learning skills that ensure the lessons they deliver are engaging and constructive. Following on, Matt Davies of the BPF delivered a session on the Olly's Cool Box of Plastics Polymer kit, which contains five experiments to teach students about properties and applications of various polymers.
