Professor Michael Shaver
Professor Michael Shaver, FRSC, FIMMM, is a Royal Academy of Engineering Chair and Professor of Polymer Science in the School of Natural Sciences at the University of Manchester where he leads initiatives in sustainable polymers, plastics and functional materials.
He is Director of the Sustainable Materials Innovation Hub, supporting industry and policy makers to make smart, sustainable plastics choices. He also leads Sustainable Futures, the University of Manchester’s overarching sustainability platform.
He has published more than 130 papers, delivered over 100 invited lectures and been recognised with the Swinburne Medal, MacroGroup Young Polymer Scientist award, two Canada Foundation for Innovation Leadership Awards and Fellowships in the Young Academy of Scotland, Royal Society of Chemistry and Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining.
