Rebate On Gas Use Now Available, says BPF

The British Plastics Federation (BPF) has confirmed that gas users in its Climate Change Agreement can now receive back 65% of their Climate Change Levy. This has been revealed in the 'small print' accompanying the recent Budget which reduced the Climate Change Levy rebate from 80% to 65% but extended it to embrace all fuels as from April 1st 2011.

Peter Davis, Director General of the BPF said that 'whilst the reduction in rebate is disappointing, the extension to all fuels and in particular gas is very welcome news to the Plastics Industry. This comes after years of lobbying DECC to include gas as an eligible fuel in the Plastics Sector Climate Change Agreement.'

Sites already in the Plastics Sector Climate Change Agreement will need to complete the new, re-designed HMRC forms PP10 & PP11 for all for all fuels to gain the reduced level of rebate from their energy provider. These are most easily accessible on www.bpfenergy.co.uk

This should be done as soon as possible after 1 April 2011  based on each site’s percentage eligibility by fuel type in accordance with their signed Climate Change Agreement.

'This will benefit practically all companies in the BPF's Climate Change Agreement to some degree with bigger opportunities for companies in the rotational moulding and foam sectors', said Davis
