Record numbers for Operation Clean Sweep webinar

operation clean sweep

Dozens of plastics companies took part in the Operation Clean Sweep® webinar last week discussing the industry's initiative to ensure plastic pellets, flakes and powders are contained within facilities. The high attendance reflects the importance of this issue to many companies, and their commitment to protecting the environment.

The webinar is available to watch here.

This webinar provided a brilliant practical example of how Logoplaste have implemented Operation Clean Sweep® within their facility. Logoplaste initially identified any potential leakage areas and then examined how to overcome these.

They have put in place a number of measures including:

- vacuum cleaners in the silo areas to enable spills to be quickly cleaned up

- fitting mesh screens over drains

- upgrading silo pipe work from flexi pipe to metal solid pipework

Another key part of their programme is engagement with both staff and suppliers. Logoplaste have designed a commitment document for their haulage companies to complete to ensure they adhere to measures to contain pellets and report any problems.

They also had a competition for their own staff to check their knowledge of Operation Clean Sweep®, the winning employee receiving meal vouchers.

75 companies are currently signed up to Operation Clean Sweep®. This represents 24% of the companies in membership who handle pellets and around 43% of the total volume of material processed in the UK.
