Replace your leaky windows under the Green Deal
Tuesday, 26 July 2011
Following months of lobbying by the BPF’s Windows Group to raise the profile of energy efficient PVC windows, the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) has made an early announcement on the forthcoming Green Deal Scheme.
In the news section of the DECC website it was published recently that the scheme will involve and extensive range of energy efficient measures including replacing leaky windows.
Although the announcement is taken as a very positive step for the windows industry, we are still unsure of what will be expressed at the actual scheme. Weather the material and design of windows will count on the energy savings calculations or how those calculations will be carried out is still undetermined.
The Green Deal will help people transform their houses into more energy efficient and environmentally friendly homes. About 25% of energy could be saved in every home with the appropriate measures of insulation and energy efficient building products.
The scheme is due to be launched by the government in October 2012 and the BPF will monitor closely the progress consciously.
