Simulation: the Vehicle to Improve Designs and Technology

In co-operation with London Metropolitan University and South East Plastics & Rubber Group the UK & Ireland Section of the
Society of Plastics Engineers is pleased to present:

Simulation: the vehicle to improve Designs and Technology

Date: Monday 5 July 2010

Time: 14.00 hours

Venue: Room CR100 London Metropolitan University ,
41 Commercial Road, London E1 1LA  (Nearest tube Aldgate East)

Speaker: David Russell (David Russell Associates)

David Russell, with over 30 years experience in the plastics industry, mostly related to thermoforming and including pioneering high pressure forming in the UK, has recently been operating as a consultant for the thermoforming sector. He represented Rapra Technology for 3 years in the €4.8 million EU-funded T-ForM project and was introduced to T-Sim simulation software for thermoforming. Since then he has represented Accuform, developers of T-Sim and B-Sim, in the UK.

David’s presentation will describe the benefits of simulation software for thermoforming (T-Sim) and blow moulding (B-Sim). The software helps to optimise part design, tool design and processing conditions before a tool is cut. The ‘what-if?’ facility in the software lets moulders work off-line with designers to optimise designs.

The presentation will show T-Sim in action, including the latest release, which automatically changes the shape of the plug to optimise material distribution and cost.
David will also cover B-Sim, simulation software for stretch and extrusion blow moulding

Registration: No fee for this meeting and refreshments are with the compliments of S.E.P.R.G. but the organisers would appreciate an indication of your attendance.
