Mike Boswell, Plastribution
Mike Boswell is a Graduate & Post Graduate Polymer Technologist who has previously studied at Burton Technical College and the Institute of Polymer Technology and Materials Engineering at Loughborough University. His early career included experience in extrusion, thermoforming, and injection moulding with both in-house and trade moulders supplying various sectors including automotive.
In 1998 he  joined Plastribution as a trainee technical sales executive, he then moved into product management and in 1998 was appointed business development director.

In 2000 he was promoted to the position of Managing Director, and since this time the business has enjoyed considerable success and Plastribution became the UK’s largest distributor in 2009. Mike joined the BPF council in May 2005 and was elected Vice-President of the BPF in May 2012.

John Cridland CBE, Confederation of British Industry
John joined the CBI as a policy adviser in 1982 and has been Director of Environmental Affairs and of Human Resources Policy. John was Deputy Director-General from 2000 to 2010 before being made Director General. John
is a board member of Business in the Community and a UK Commissioner for Employment and Skills.

John Hall, Independent Energy Market Analyst
John Hall is Fellow of the Energy Institute, a Member of the Market Research Society, a Member of the Parliamentary Group for Energy Studies and an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply. He set up John Hall Associates in 1973, which became one of the principal energy consultancies operating within the European Union with partners in the US.  The company was merged with Energy Quote in 2009 and currently trades successfully as Energy Quote JHA. John left the company in 2010 and continued his interest in the market as an independent market analyst and in 2013 he joined Alfa Energy at their London office as Chairman. He has closely followed energy markets and in particular the Oil Market for nearly forty years and has attended many OPEC Meetings and other industry forums.

Dr John Holton, Cogent
After completing a DPhil in Chemistry John Holton joined the ICI Corporate R&D laboratory where he held a number of senior management positions.  In the early ‘90s he joined EVC, an ICI/Enichem joint venture based in Brussels and after a spell as Group Strategic Planning manager John launched, and then as Managing Director, led Inovyl, a new global business venture involved in specialty chemicals and technology licensing. In 2005 John joined Cogent as Strategy Director where his responsibilities include the development of the employer engagement strategy to enable Cogent to fulfill its objective of improving business performance through skills. John has focused on developing the right relationships and ensuring networks are in place to facilitate strategic engagement; this has played a key part in defining demand-led provision and raising employer’s ambition to invest in skills

Philip Jones, National Skills Academy Process Industries
Philip has 20 years experience in corporate businesses starting out at British Leyland in Industrial Relations. A career in Human Resources followed; with 14 years at BASF in various roles including UK HR Director of both the Coatings and Pharmaceuticals divisions and three years spend at BASF’s corporate headquarters. In 1997 Philip was asked by BASF to become General Manager of a newly formed division – BASF Biocides; specialising in the research, development, manufacture and sales of specialty chemicals for preservation.

In 2002 Philip set up his own management consultancy specialising in European business growth for non-European companies and also helped set up the first UK consultancy specialising in business advice to SMEs. In 2007, after selling his consultancy interests, Philip joined emda, The East Midlands Development Agency, to design and deliver the East Midlands High Growth Programme. Philip has been Chief Executive of the National Skills Academy Process Industries since 2008.

Mike Rigby, Barclays Bank
Mike joined Barclays in 2008 as a Relationship Director on the Manufacturing team. After two years in the Bank he was offered a leadership role in the broader Manufacturing, Transport and Logistics team. In October 2012 Mike was promoted to Head of Manufacturing, Transport & Logistics where he has responsibility for the sector nationally within Corporate Banking.

Mike Smith, IHS
Michael joined IHS (CMAI) in 2006 as a Service Leader for Plastics & Polymers for Europe with a primary focus on polyolefins.  All together, Michael has 32 years of experience in the chemicals industry having started his chemicals career at BASF in 1980.  For several of those years he served as BASF’s cracker products business manager.  Today Michael is Director - Chlor-Alkali & PVC EMEA and is the Global Service Leader for the IHS Chemical Global Vinyls Report service.
