Speakers - Plastics in Packaging and the Consumer

		Gill Bevington, Perchards Gill has worked for Perchards since 1991. She monitors, analyses and reports on European legislative developments on packaging (and industry response to them) at national and EU level, and is an expert on national packaging waste management initiatives across Europe. Gill has carried out many tailor-made studies for clients on aspects of the packaging legislation in place in various European countries and speaks regularly at conferences on the subject.
		Howard Ellard, Ellard Associates Howard has been in the waste and environmental sector since 1986, both as an operator and as a regulator. In this period of time there have been huge changes in the way in which society thinks and acts in respect of waste and the industry have responded in its kind. Howard was most recently the Business Development Director at Viridor, which was the culmination of a 21 year career with that organisation. Initially concentrating on environmental compliance, Howard soon moved into the development side of the business where he oversaw the move away from landfill into recycling and energy production. Now set up on his own as Ellard Associates, Howard intends to continue to provide sound, logical and commercially based advice to waste producers, as well as resource and waste businesses. Howard’s previous roles have encompassed the predecessor bodies to the Environment Agency as well as consultancy.
		Louis Lindenberg, Unilever Louis first joined Unilever in 1999 from L’Oreal. After several successful packaging Innovations, and a passion for structural design, he moved to the UK to take up the position of Global Design and sustainability director. With the announcement of Unilever’s Sustainable Living Plan, Louis relinquished the design part of his role to concentrate solely on driving the packaging sustainability agenda for Unilever, with particular focus on seeking opportunities to divert waste from landfill. Louis was a steering team manager for the ‘Consumer Goods Forum’ who published the ‘global sustainability framework and measurement system’ within the packaging industry.
		James Samworth, Foresight Group James as a Director in the Environmental team at Foresight, having joined the firm in 2009. He is responsible for investing in waste and renewables projects, including leading deals for Foresight’s Green Investment Bank fund. He previously spent 10 years at Corus in operations management and commercial roles. Prior to joining Foresight James gained investment experience within banking and private equity in the environmental, natural resources and industrial sectors at Deutsche Bank, Lyceum Capital Partners and Next Wave Ventures.
