Spectra Packaging Unveils PR10 With Promise To Use 10% Recycled Content In All Its Product

Spectra Packaging is proud to announce the launch of PCR10, part of it on-going environmental initiatives.

Coming into full effect by the end of 2018 at no extra cost, this environmental initiative will see 10% PCR (Post-Consumer Recycled) material added to all future bottles made at their UK based plant.

Instigated as an environmental opt-out scheme that customers can decline if requested, PCR10 is aimed at helping brands to move towards more sustainable packaging.
When looking at sustainable options, manufacturers typically leave it in the hands of the brand owners and retailers. However, Spectra Packaging has decided to take the lead and shift the responsibility.

Spectra Packaing's PCR is primarily sourced in the UK to minimise carbon footprint and because it works closely with its suppliers, this enables it to track the recycled materials back, allowing traceability to ensure the honesty and integrity of the materials.

Commonly made from single-use packaging such as milk containers and drinks bottles, the production of PCR begins with the collection and sorting of these plastics in commercial and residential recycling programs. This ensures their re-use and avoids sending them to landfill sites. The discarded plastics are ground, washed, dried and pelletised ready to be used again.

Spectra Packaging believes that as a responsible manufacturer of plastics, it has a duty of care to constantly assess, review explore sustainable alternatives for customers wishing to make a difference. PCR10 is the perfect platform for customers wanting to make that difference.
