Student Design Competition - Highly Commended - Football Shin Guard

Precision D Shin Guard uses the unique ability of a Smart polymer to reduce the amount and severity of back, base and front leg injuries plaguing the world of soccer today. The product is manufactured using pre moulding impact foam partnered with dry fit material. All of which are joined using specialist adhesive and stitching techniques.

Leading sports scientists have exclaimed how the product will also have the ability to prolong the careers of athletes as they are not as vulnerable to the constant shocks, blows, tears and bruising they would otherwise have with existing products. The flexible nature of these smart polymers combined with durable and hardwearing dry fit cloth gives the product the flexibility and comfort needed to bring the best out of sports men and woman both physically and psychologically.  Diversity and market preservation is always important especially in the current economic climate, this is ever apparent with the Precision D shin guard as its sister product the D inferno can be specialised into other sports forms such as hockey and even karate.

As a designer, Jaipreet’s inspiration comes from real life experience and a relentless interest in up and coming material technologies. This partnered with a love for soccer and the ethical preservation of the game gave him the perfect direction to follow and help build the Precision D into what it is today. Becoming a highly commended product by the IOM3 as well as gaining a substantial amount of interest at New Designers Exhibition 2010 will help offer the product not only change the world of soccer but the world of sports protection.
