Successful BPF Pipes Group Workshop Highlights Key Supply Chain Water Industry Issues

The November workshop organised jointly by the BPF Pipes Group and Water UK at the BPF HQ was a great success, with attendees from all areas of the water industry supply chain.

Several water companies and design consultants attended, along with engineering contractors, manufacturers and equipment suppliers.  The workshop was chaired by Dr Joseph Sanders of Affinity Water.  Presentations detailing the key changes to WIS 4-32-08 and how to improve the quality of joints were made by Derek Muckle of Radius Systems and Dr David Christie-Lowe of Exova Utilities.  Anglian Water’s Karen Thompson talked about the single supply chain and how to procure consistency from purchase to installation, while Phillip Clisham of GHD Livigunn facilitated a discussion session on good workmanship underpinning best site practice. 

A useful and constructive workshop discussed the way forward, with many practical suggestions from attendees, which will be summarised and circulated in due course.  

BPF Plastic Pipes Group have also launched a new guide on demonstrating the quality of installed fusion joints
