Sustainable Manufacturing tops BPF K2010 agenda

The British Plastics Federation (BPF) is to showcase the UK as a global leader in Sustainable Manufacturing in plastics with the launch of a book titled Sustainable Manufacturing: A Guide For The Plastics industry at the K Fair on Monday 1st November in room 28 at the Dusseldorf Congress Centre.

The guide aims to equip companies with the information and support needed to implement systems to fulfill long term sustainability goals and objectives and to present the expertise available in the UK.

The book launch will accompany a three part seminar that will feature a broad range of presentations from industry experts under the umbrella themes of Recycling, Energy Reduction and Biobased and Degradable plastics. A pool of selected companies who have been highlighted as leaders in sustainable manufacturing have also been recruited to co exhibit with table top displays at the Forum. These include manufacturers of technical equipment, advanced materials technology, leaders in training and education as well as plastics processors who have been highlighted as 'Best In Class'.

The BPF is also drawing on its extensive global plastics contacts and inviting member companies of plastics trade associations in India, China and Vietnam to attend the Forum to learn about what is available from the UK and to network with British firms.

Attending this event is highly recommended to the relevant parties attending K2010 as the launch of the Sustainable Manufacturing Forum presents a powerful opportunity for us as representatives of the UK plastics industry to present our position on the issue of sustainability and through the sharing of ideas, issues and interactions to better equip ourselves to satisfy our sustainability goals,” said Philip Law, the BPF’s Public and Industrial Affairs Director.

The Sustainable Manufacturing Forum will take place on Monday 1st November from 10.30am to 3pm. Attendance to the Forum is free of charge and lunch will be provided, but companies must pre-register at: www.sustainablemanufacturing.co.uk
