New Truck Blow off Station system is 90% effective for plastic pellet and nurdle clean up

TBOS (Truck Blow off Station) removes plastic pellets/nurdles from trucks for the plastics supply chain industry.

Fully autonomous, TBOS is the only system of its kind, requiring no additional resources such as water or manpower, removes 90%+ of plastic pellets, and provides easy integration onto existing setups with no business interruption in installation or use. TBOS helps meet environmental responsibilities, including those set out in Operation Clean Sweep® (OCS).

Enables OCS Compliance
TBOS enables the plastics supply chain and logistics industries to easily fulfil their environmental responsibilities, fully meeting Operation Clean Sweep® (OCS), as well as compliance with current and potential best practice guidelines.

90% Effective
In tests, TBOS removes 90% plus of plastic spillage from trucks. It works by self-generating a powerful airflow - in excess of 700 KPH at the nozzle aperture - from two high-speed blowers installed at each station.

The blowers deliver air to Solojet nozzles, which direct air to effectively target and sweep the truck’s exterior. SolvAir’s unique Solojet nozzles are designed and positioned to target all areas of a truck’s surface – including the hard to reach areas of the wheel arches and chassis sides, where plastic spillage can easily gather.

Key features of TBOS:

  • Ensures plastics spillage does not leave bulk terminals
  • Easy to install, requires no manpower to run
  • Zero water or wash-down required
  • Unique SoloJet nozzles effective at targeting all areas of trucks
  • Automatic high-speed blowers guarantee low energy usage
  • Able to operate and be effective in all kinds of weather
  • Enables easy compliance with OCS

Easy to Install & Maintain
TBOS is designed to seamlessly integrate into existing sites, with zero impact to on-site logistics. It is fully autonomous, meaning that once installed, trucks only have to drive through it to engage the plastics removal process. TBOS’s sensors are triggered when a vehicle is in close proximity. Once activated, TBOS then automatically emits the powerful airstream targeting the truck’s surface while it drives through it.

TBOS’s automatic nature means that it runs continuously, cleaning the flow of traffic without causing vehicles to need to stop or wait for the system to target them. It is able to sustain continuous 24/7 use, meaning no downtime is needed, even if the system has been operational for a while.

As trucks drive through the TBOS station, plastics spillage is blown-off as a result of the targeted and high-powered airflow, and the plastic nurdles/pellets are deposited onto the floor area surrounding the TBOS area and vehicle. From here, the plastic nurdles/pellets can be easily collected using a standard industrial vacuum system.

TBOS is designed for outdoor use, and has been tested to be used in all types of weather. More than this, it is still totally effective even in bad weather.

Zero Water Requirements
Crucially, TBOS does not require water, meaning there is no need to consider the containment, cleaning, filtering or maintenance that comes with a water system. This means that TBOS can be fitted onto any site with ease, requiring no infrastructure changes, and causing no disruption to ongoing operations.

TBOS’s blower set up means that it offers lower energy usage and therefore significant savings when compared to systems that use compressed air.

Energy Efficient Blowers
TBOS self-generates the required airflow to effectively remove plastics using high speed blowers. When activated by the arrival of a vehicle, the system emits a powerful airstream in excess of 700 KPH.

Unique Solojet Nozzles
TBOS contains a series of unique SoloJet nozzles that are optimally designed and positioned. These nozzles target all areas of a truck’s surface where plastic spillage gather, including wheel arches.

Fully Automatic Operation

With controls that sense the arrival of a vehicle, TBOS is able to run continuously, 24 hours a day, with no operator or driver intervention needed, and no interruption to the standard flow of traffic at bulk sites.

Operation Clean Sweep Compliance

TBOS has been designed to meet Operation Clean Sweep® (OCS) guidance.

OCS is an international programme designed to prevent plastic granules, pellets, nurdles, flakes and powders being released into the environment during handling in the plastics value chain.

OCS’s goal is to help every plastic resin handling operation implement good housekeeping and plastic containment practices, working towards achieving zero pellet, flake, and powder loss and protecting the environment and saving valuable resources. For more information visit www.opcleansweep.org.

SolvAir are signatories to OCS and we have designed and tested TBOS to ensure that it meets OCS standards. At SolvAir, we have decades of experience in engineering innovative air solutions, as well as more than 2000 satisfied customers in over 40 countries.
