Opportunity To Access Technically Skilled Students

The British Plastics Federation have been contacted by a French Technical College in the province of Alsace called the 'Lycee du Haut Barr' in Saverne, near to Strasbourg. Students here are studying for the Europlastic BTS (Advanced Technician Diploma) which is roughly the equivalent of a HND. Second year students who are still teenagers (but over 18 years old) have to complete a one or two month internship in a company specialising in plastics processing or composites before qualifying. There is considerable interest among the students in doing this in the UK.

It could well be that your company is interested in hosting such a student as he or she could be attracted to work for you on a full time basis once they qualify.

The College expects that students be given roles to help prepare them for management positions in Production,Quality, Project Management, Design and Product Development. It is foreseen that the students would work in the UK between January 24th 2011 to March 4th 2011.

The cost to the company is minimal. It is not necessary to pay a salary as the student receives a grant from the EU Erasmus programme, although you may wish to consider helping with accommodation costs.

There are other such Colleges in France with students seeking similar placements.
